✨Our Founder's Story✨

From Hurt to Healing
One Connection at a Time
Strengthening Connections Community Services (SCCS) wasn’t built in a boardroom—it was born from lived experience, generational pain, and the relentless hope that healing is possible.
Our founder, Camille Heller, grew up as the daughter of a mother who battled addiction. For years, she watched the ripple effects of trauma—how it steals connection, interrupts safety, and leaves children trying to make sense of the silence. But she also witnessed something powerful: recovery. Her mother got sober. And that journey back—while not perfect—planted the belief that change, healing, and reconnection are possible, even after everything breaks.
Camille lost the woman who raised her—her grandmother—at just 13. Her grandma was her safe space, her constant, her mother in every way that mattered. That loss shaped her. And so did the systems that followed—systems that didn’t see the root of her pain, only the behavior that came from it.
Years later, as a mother herself, Camille faced her own mental health challenges. She chose therapy over silence. Education over stigma. She began unlearning the patterns passed down to her and started healing in real time—not just for herself, but for her daughter, too.
Before founding SCCS, Camille served adults in crisis—feeding the homeless, walking with those in addiction, doing “the work” that systems fund. But when she started working with children, something shifted. She saw herself in them. She saw what could’ve changed her story. And she decided to build it—for them, and for every child who was never truly kept.
SCCS now offers trauma-informed programs that serve youth, caregivers, and communities through grief support, peer healing, school advocacy, and intergenerational care. We don’t wait until people break to care. We show up where the wound begins—and help build safety, connection, and wholeness from the root.
We’re not a trendy nonprofit. We’re a healing movement.
Rooted in real stories. Guided by lived wisdom. And committed to change that doesn’t just sound good—but feels good to the people living it.
Because when we strengthen the connection to ourselves, our families, and our communities, we begin to heal what once broke us—and make room for something new to grow.
TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A LASTING CHANGE.
